Franz Nowak will be lighting up Wolfson College tonight with his magical fingers on the piano, and accompanied by the regal vocals of Fenja Akinde-Hummel. From 20.30 to 21.30 in the Front Court (Gateway to Imagination).

Simian Mobile Disco DJ
Our headliner, Simian Mobile Disco, have quietly had one of the most successful and interesting careers in contemporary dance music. Since meeting in Manchester almost twenty years ago, the duo of Jas Shaw and James Ford have found themselves everywhere from Berghain to the Billboard charts, and have put out engrossing, evocative electronic music that is as approachable as it is unconventional all while almost willfully reinventing themselves at every turn.

Hackney Colliery Brass Band
Described by BBC Radio 2 as one of the greatest live bands in the UK, Hackney Colliery Band have become cult stars in the musical world having totally re-invented the brass band sound for the modern age. A truly brilliant live act who has enjoyed a remarkable few years they have done everything from playing at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics to appearing at the BRITs, MOBO Awards and Mercury Awards and collaborating with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Jamie Cullum. With a new album out this year, including the album launch at the famous Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, 2019 looks set to be HCB's biggest year yet.

Shake Your Tail Feather
Over the past couple of years Shake Your Tail Feather have become an institution in Cambridge. Performing a mix of soul, funk and acid-jazz rarities, Shake Your Tail Feather bring there own style to every gig. Featuring a dizzy array of heights, nationalities and instruments they like to start at full tilt and then teeter on the edge of falling over through fun for the rest of the evening.

Estrelo do Mar
Estrelo do Mar mix South American music and jazz together to create their very own unique sound. Think handmade drums, grooving bass lines, acrobatic vocals and lots of good vibes.

Julie & Jason
Wolfson's very own Jason Too performs with Julie Chan for an intimate performance of acoustic guitar and one of the best voices in Cambridge. Not to be missed.

Downing College Big Band
A staple of the May Ball scene in Cambridge. The Downing College Big Band throws up a storm with its eclectic mix of big band style music and jazz classics.

Cambridge University Ceilidh Band
Cambridge University Ceilidh Band will be putting on a rip roaring set for the Wolfson May Ball this year, combining old classics with an unrelenting energy that will have you dancing through the night

Sofar Sounds is reimagining the live event experience through curated, intimate performances. Quickly, what started as a hobby in London spread into a global community for artists and audiences to come together in unique and welcoming spaces - with an added element of surprise - to share, discover, create and, hopefully make a friend or find their new favourite band along the way. Today, Sofar Sounds is a community of thousands of artists, hosts, fans, travelers and more, putting on hundreds of secret, intimate events per month, across 433 cities around the world. We're extremely excited and lucky to have Sofar Sounds curating our very own intimate live performance at the Wolfson May Ball this year with the focus well and truly on the awesome live acts that they have sourced for us.
